Abstract : Homo sapiens C/D box U13 snoRNA. U13 was sequenced from HeLa cells after immunoprecipatation with anti-fibrillarin and anti-TMG antibodies by Tyc and Steitz (1989). U13 snoRNA possess an m227G trimethylguanosine cap and is most probably transcribed from RNA polII independent transcriptional unit(s). Two segments of U13 can form base-pair interactions with the 3' portion of 18S rRNA (Bachellerie et al., 1995). Possibly, U13 is involved in the processing of pre-rRNA, as the other capped snoRNAs U3 and U8 (Cavaillé et al., 1996).
