snoid : SR0000090
Length : 77
Abstract : Homo sapiens C/D box snoRNA 14q(0). This snoRNA was characterized by its conservation in human and ovine genomes in the region involved in the ovine mutation callypige. As the 9 copies of the snoRNA 14q(I) and the 31 copies of 14q(II), 14q(0) is encoded in an intron of the non-coding MEG8 RNA gene. Although near from the maternally expressed GTL2/MEG3 gene, the MEG8 gene is not submitted to genomic imprinting. In the human, 14q(0) is highly expressed in the brain and uterus, and to a lesser extent in the heart. This snoRNA is not predicted to guide to 2'O-methylation of a rRNA or snRNA.
