Abstract : Homo sapiens ACA66 scaRNA. This H/ACA box RNA was characterized by bioinformatics, and its expression verified by Northern blot and primer extension in mouse (Schattner et al., 2006). It is predicted to guide the pseudouridylation of U12 snRNA U28. The pseudouridylation of this nucleotide was experimentally demonstrated by Massenet et al. (2002). Schattner et al. (2006) noted that human and mouse ACA66 are hosted in introns of non orthologous genes (USP32 and Wbscr22, respectively). As other modification guides of snRNAs transcribed by RNA polII, ACA66 is predicted to reside in Cajal bodies.
