Abstract : Homo sapiens C/D box snoRNA HBII-239. This snoRNA is the human orthologue of the mouse MBII-239 described by Hüttenhofer et al. (2001). HBII-239 is predicted to guide the 2'O-ribose methylation of 5.8S rRNA U14. In tetraopods and zebrafish, this snoRNA resides in the AP1G1 gene. In fugu, tetraodon, medaka and stickleback, it resides in the UTP15 (U3 small nucleolar RNA-associated protein 15)gene. The HBII-239 sequence is included in miRBase as hsa-mir-768. However, the conservation of the C/D boxes and of the rRNA anti-sense element establish that it is a snoRNA.
