Abstract : Homo sapiens C/D box snoRNA HBII-55. This snoRNA is the human orthologue of the mouse MBI-55 described by Hüttenhofer et al. (2001). It is predicted to guide the 2'O-ribose methylation of 18S rRNA U1288. As the H/ACA box snoRNA ACA51, HBI-55 snoRNA gene is located in an intron the NOL5A (nucleolar protein 5A) gene. The NOL5A protein is the orthologue of the yeast Nop56p protein, and is a common constituent of the C/D box snoRNPs.
