Abstract : Homo sapiens U58C snoRNA. This C/D box snoRNA was discovered by Yang et al. (2006) using snoSeeker. Three close paralogs (and a degenerated copy) reside in the RPL17 gene. Due to the lack of a consensus D'box, Yang et al. (2006) predicted that U58C (SNORD58C) guides the methylation of 28S rRNA U4197, whereas Kiss-Laszlo et al. (1996) predicted that U58A guides the methylation of 28S rRNA G4198. U58ABC might guide the methylation of both bases by a sliding mechanism.
